3 Self-Care Essentials For Busy Days

The work of becoming oneself, I find, is probably one of the hardest and underestimated jobs we will do in our lifetime. ⁠

Do you feel a glimpse of regret:⁠
for being in a certain job for too long?⁠
for being in a certain work routine such as 9-5 for too long?⁠
for working in a certain industry for too long? ⁠
⁠
Just because something felt right once, doesn't mean it will feel right for the rest of our lives. ⁠
⁠
Because the becoming continues. Giving you the chance to grab hold of the steering wheel and change course (aka your career and life), every single day anew. ⁠

So every once in a while checking in with yourself: ⁠

💡 Does the career path I'm currently on feel true to myself? ⁠
💡 Does the relationship I'm in (with partner or friends) feel true to myself? ⁠
💡 Does the habit of checking my phone in the morning feel true to myself? ⁠

Yes it's key to have a vision where you want to get to, plan your roadmap of how to get there, and take action to actually make your vision become reality, BUT, we quickly get lost if we don't ever take a break from this and celebrate how far we have already come. ⁠

Think of the career change you are planning - how have you grown personally and professionally since you started planning it?⁠

Today, take 10 minutes to reflect on how far you have come already and then celebrate yourself for it, and not only today, but every day!🎉 xxE⁠

Hello world! Slowly tuning back in here after my social media detox over the last month, aka my digital detox XXL. No longer logging on to Instagram, Facebook or Pinterest at all freed up a lot of headspace and felt truly right. Here's what I realised crystal clear whilst off grid: ⁠
⁠
Benefits of social media: ⁠
✅connecting with your community (I loved hearing from those of you who wrote me via email & WhatsApp instead) ⁠
✅meeting new like-minded people and collaboration partners ⁠
✅getting inspired by your rolemodels ⁠
⁠
But here's the thing:⁠
⁠
❗ social media is not free.⁠
⁠
You pay a high price, the highest of all: your time. Precious time we can use to make our goals happen, start that career change that you've been dreaming of, and invest time into real life relationships!⁠
⁠
Yet our addiction to social media is booming and I increasingly see it become a topic in my coaching sessions as it is the number one productivity show stopper. ⁠
⁠
Waking up checking the gram? Reading the news whilst eating breakfast? Mindlessly scrolling in any free minute? ⁠
⁠
What really helps me to limit my usage of social media is to see it for what it really is: ⁠
⁠
an algorithm.⁠
⁠
And not a harmless one. An algorithm that is designed to steal your time and is equipped with the savviest behavioural nudges out there to make you addicted (and then makes money off your addiction).⁠
⁠
Needless to say I can only recommend doing a regular social media detox, I'd even go so far as to say it's a necessity in our always ON and uber-connected world. ⁠

For me everyday is International Women's day, otherwise we're not going to advance this little situation which we have on hand: exactly 4.7 % of the 600 European highest valued public firms have a female CEO (European Women on Boards report). Yet gender diverse teams are also shown to be 21% more profitable (McKinsey). ⁣⁣
